Girls in Uganda struggle to cope with the basic natural occurrence of the monthly menstrual cycle; they do not have the luxury of comfortable throw away sanitary napkins; life is hard if you’re a female in Uganda. In many cases, young girls are victims of abuse, so we set out in our small way to make a difference!
From small acorns, grow healthy, strong oak trees!
We recently shipped a parcel to Kampala, Uganda, to help women and girls with their quality of life. It occurred to me to also send a few balls and bibs so they can play netball, a sport close to my heart.
I am now inspired to “go large” and have engaged the support of Sevenoaks Junior Netball League, local sports clubs and businesses to send an entire crate of sports items that will make a huge difference to the lives of young women and girls in Uganda, containing; sports shoes, netball posts, bibs, and balls.
Can you help too?
WHY GET INVOLVED?
For me, I was introduced to a lovely lady Mary Kevin who is the Director of an initiative in Uganda called, “A Future a Girl”. It just felt right! We sent a parcel of bra’s and sanitary napkins and a few netballs and bibs. Please see the delightful response when the parcel arrived! The coach said they need sports shoes to be able to play better and compete against neighbouring villages. Girls and women involved in organised sport reduce the risk of abuse, rape and drugs. Their confidence, self-worth and fun are enhanced as they find real purpose in their lives through sport.
